About Us
The Odisha State Ophthalmological Society was formed in the year 1969 by three members and was registered by Registrar of Societies on 15th July 1970 under Societies Registration Act (No XXI of 1860) at Cuttack. The Aims and Objectives of the Society are:
(i) To cultivate and promote Ophthalmic and allied medical sciences in all different branches including improvement of public health and medical education in Orissa from the Ophthalmic point of view.
(ii) To make the people conscious and advice them about preservation of sight.
(iii) To foster feeling of fellowship amongst members.
For the attainment and in furtherance of the above objectives, the society may:
A. Hold periodic meetings, conferences and social gatherings of the members of the society and of the medical profession in general.
B. Arrange quarterly clinical lectures, discussions and demonstrations on any aspect of ophthalmic and allied medical sciences.
C. Encourage research in Ophthalmic and allied medical sciences.
D. Conduct an educative campaign among the masses of Orissa in the matter of public health from the Ophthalmic point of view by cooperating if necessary with different public bodies working with the same objective.
E. Publish, distribute or otherwise circulate records, transaction and proceeding of the various meeting and conferences of the society to its members in such manners as may be determined from time to time.
F. Raise money in such manners as the society may think fit and collect subscriptions for the purpose of the society.
G. Do whenever it shall appear to the executive committee that it is advisable, to alter, extend or abridge the objects, purposes already to or for other purposes within the meaning constitution and the provision of Act 21 of 1860 or to amalgamate the society either wholly or partly with another institute, society or association having altogether or its part objective, committee may submit the proposition should be carried in to effect unless it shall have been agreed to by the votes of the majority members then eligible to vote and unless notice of it shall have been given to all members of the society.
